Class of 2002
Inducted in 2013

A two-sport standout and two-sport team Captain at Lowell High School, Jonathan Dolan earned honors at the local, state, regional, and national levels during a storied athletic career.

Jonathan starred at middle linebacker for Coach Scott Boyle’s Lowell High School football squad during the early 2000’s. As team Captain during his senior season (2001), Jonathan directed the defense for a Raider team that captured the imagination of the fans and filled Cawley Stadium on Friday nights throughout the season. Ultimately, the Red and Gray captured the Co-Championship of the Merrimack Valley Conference and Jonathan was named to the Lowell Sun All-Star team.

As a member of Coach Tim O’Keefe’s LHS wrestling team, Jonathan won numerous honors during a stellar career. As a sophomore (2000) Jonathan was named the team’s MVP and earned Lowell Sun All-Star honors en route to winning the Division I North Championship at 152 lbs. During his junior season (2001) Jonathan again won team MVP honors as he won the Division I North Championship at 160 lbs. He was runner-up at the Massachusetts Division I, Massachusetts All-State, and New England Tournaments. A team Captain, Jonathan was named as a Boston Herald All-Scholastic. As a senior (2002) Jonathan was team Captain of the Red and Gray’s Team State Champions. Individually he won Championships at 160 lbs. at the Division I North, Massachusetts Division I, and All-State Tournaments. Jonathan was also an All-American National Finalist. He was named the MVC and Lowell Sun Wrestler-of-the-Year, and repeated as an All-Scholastic selection.

After graduation Jonathan attended Phillips Exeter Academy. Again a two-sport standout, Jonathan was named MVP of both Exeter’s football and wrestling teams. He won the New England Prep School Championship at 174 pounds and was a finalist at the National Prep School Tournament.

Enrolling at Division III Williams College, Jonathan embarked on an athletic career that would ultimately rank as one of the finest in the long athletic history of that institution. Maintaining the delicate balance so important to manage the rigorous academic demands of Williams with the time and energy requirements necessary for a two-sport student-athlete, Jonathan’s achievements both in the classroom and in the athletic arenas at Williams were nothing short of sensational.

A three-year starter at linebacker for the Williams football team, Jonathan captained the undefeated Ephs squad his senior year and was second on the team in tackles.

As a member of the Williams wrestling team, Jonathan won three consecutive Division 3 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) and three consecutive New England Division 3 Championships at 174 lbs (2005, 2006, 2007). He won NCAA Division 3 All-American honors in each of those years as well, finishing 7th (2005), 5th (2006), and 4th (2007) at the NCAA Tournament.

At the conclusion of his senior year Jonathan received the prestigious Williams College Purple Key Award, presented to the school’s Most Outstanding Student Athlete.

Based on his considerable wrestling resume, Jonathan was inducted into the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Hall of Fame in January of 2013.
